Ah! I’m so excited about this series! When I say endless possibilities, I really mean endless. So I am on a mission to explore and share as many way to use lettering as I can possibly think of, starting with the first in this series- Prismacolor colored pencils on a kraft journal!
This year we decided to start a Family Gratitude Journal about the things we are grateful for each week and I figured we needed a cute little notebook to put everything in.
The supplies I used:
First, I started with finding the middle of the journal so I can keep things as centered as possible.
Next, and probably most important, I sketched out my grid so everything would be nice and lined up just the way I want it (I learned so much about grids from Stefan Kunz-check out his instagram here).
Then came the initial sketch where I figured out the spacing and where every letter should go before coloring with the prismacolor colored pencils. These are pretty great. I love how smooth and vibrant they are. I did put a thin layer of white under the ombre blue to help it stand out more. From what I’m learning with prismacolor is that layering helps create some really great effects.
Finally, I decided to add some little foil details with my Sakura Quickie Glue Pen. It is THE BEST to add little hints of foil or glitter to your lettering pieces.
And there you have it, my finished Gratitude Journal! I can’t wait to fill it up and look back on it to remember everything our family is so thankful for.
Thinking about adding these to my shop. Comment below and let me know what you think!
